What are six steps in negotiating real estate?

  1. Get Pre-Approved - We will help you figure out the amount that you are qualified to borrow, and determine any options available to increase your borrowing power. We'll explore alternative lending programs, such as those backed by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), the Veterans Administration (VA), and The Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae).

  2. Find an Agent - You will need to select a real estate agent that will best serve your needs. Landmark Mortgage networks with some of the top agents in our community and we'll be happy to refer you to one.

  3. Find a Home - A common mistake made by many buyers is that they select a home too rapidly; however, sometimes a quick decision may be necessary. We recommend that you see at least 5 to 10 homes within your price range. The importance of step one, getting pre-approved, is that you are only looking at homes you can afford. This expedites the shopping process.

  4. Negotiate - Once you find the right property it is time for the negotiations. If you have followed this outline in its proper sequence, you are ahead of the game. Being pre-approved prior to finding your home will improve your negotiating position.

  5. Loan Processing and Approval - We will be with you every step of the way, from the date of application to final approval.

  6. Closing - If you arrive at the closing fully prepared, you'll avoid unpleasant surprises that could not only delay the closing of the deal, but could very well dissolve it altogether. We will make sure that you are prepared for this crucial part of the process. We'll tell you what will happen at the closing, who needs to be there, and what documents to bring.
