How do I select a lender?

When most people think about choosing a mortgage lender, they think about finding the lowest rate. Of course, financial considerations are important to every home buyer, and you certainly should consider the different rates lenders in your area offer on comparable loans. But you also want a lender you can trust and someone you can work with effectively. So don't let rates be your only criteria.

There is little difference between a bank, savings and loan, or a mortgage broker when it comes to the competitiveness of their loan rates. The difference is in the service they provide. Here's the process we recommend: Talk to people you know who have bought or refinanced a home recently. Talk to a loan officer so you can get a feel for what it will be like to work with them, and how they approach your needs. If you're still uncertain, ask for references from recent home buyers, and talk to them. Don’t rely solely on someone else’s recommendation though. You must feel comfortable with your lender. If you feel comfortable with your lender and trust him, it will be much easier to trust his advice on what kind of mortgage will best suit your needs. In todays lending environment you will create more of a relationship with the loan officer than you will with the bank or lending institution. You want to make sure the person that assists you in obtaining your mortgage is a fulltime committed professional. One that returns calls promptly and  pays close attention to details.

At Landmark Mortgage, we want to help you get approved for your loan. The more information, good or bad, that you provide us with, the easier it will be to get an approval.  We want to help get your loan approved so you can move into your new home as quickly as possible.
