Longview police say the man accused of stabbing two adults on Tuesday, and killing one, knew the victims.
Police are continuing to search for Alexander Lee Rogers, 51, of Longview, who authorities say is “considered armed and dangerous.”
Longview Police Capt. Branden McNew said Rogers had been to the victims’ Longview home before.
McNew did not elaborate on how Rogers knew the pair.
However, arresting documents made available through court records on Friday say the surviving victim told authorities he knew the attacker’s father.
McNew said detectives do not believe Rogers broke into the Terumi Lane home, where police found the victims: one dead, the other critically injured.

The person who called dispatch said she went to the home because an alarm was going off, only to find the two victims: 64-year-old Dawn Peters and a 73-year-old man police say is in stable condition as of their last report.
The woman who found the bodies also told police she saw a tall, slender man wearing a baseball cap and a jacket nearby.
Police report nearby surveillance footage shows Rogers fleeing the scene. Earlier in the day, Rogers had a run-in with police outside the Longview Fred Meyer over an unrelated incident, which is not detailed in the report.

Charging documents say Rogers used a box cutter in the stabbing, but McNew said Thursday that police are investigating what kind of weapon was used.
Rogers is charged with second-degree murder and first-degree assault. Both charges carry a deadly weapon enhancement.
Rogers is described by the police as 6 feet 2 inches tall, about 190 pounds, and may be in a partially spray-painted black BMW, with a Washington state license plate number BNU8712.
Authorities suspect Rogers is either in Clark County or Cowlitz County, according to a Wednesday notice.
They advise not to approach him, but to call 911 immediately.

Past convictions
Court records show Rogers is a convicted sex offender with a lengthy criminal history that goes back to the 1990s.
According to a 2001 police report, Rogers beat and raped a woman after he offered to give her a ride. The report says Rogers forced the victim to drink vodka and then took her into the woods.
Rogers pleaded guilty to third-degree assault with sexual motivation in the case and is required to register as a sex offender in Washington state.
Rogers also pleaded guilty in July for not registering as a sex offender, as well as a third-degree malicious mischief. Rogers, who is listed as a transient, had to check in every Tuesday with authorities, but failed to show up for three check-ins in December 2024, court records show.

In 2002, Rogers was convicted of first- and second-degree assault, first-degree burglary and taking a motor vehicle without permission after breaking into a Cathlamet home, assaulting two men with a machete, and stealing a car, according to another report.
He was sentenced to 288 months in state prison.
